Grass Roots - work in progress
Australian mining giant Bysson Corp. is going green by investing in cobalt, but not everyone is happy about it. A group of environmental activists are outraged when Bysson’s CEO and the Queensland Premier announce the approval of a controversial mining lease that will extend into native grasslands. According to them, the project must be stopped at any cost.
For Bysson employee Jill Robbins, one coffee date is about to launch her headfirst into a cataclysmic career crisis. Meanwhile, too many lies land teenage activist Caitlyn King in hot water with her family, her school and her new friends. Will they both join the fight to save the grasslands or will they crack under the pressure?
In 2025, Alex will be heading into Outback Queensland on a field trip to do more research for this book. Stay tuned!
Salt + Light
Fogsy is a trap. A dinky town attached to a stunning stretch of coastline.
When Pete earns his place amongst the town’s survivors, he decides to break free once and for all. He doesn’t want to end up like the old blokes at the pub repeating yesterday’s stories. Only, he’s got no money, no job and no place to go. He’s stuck, haunted by memories of his best friend Jez, who is long gone already.
Bron doesn’t want to leave. What’s the point of asking questions like “What if?” when she knows her place is there with Jack. No matter what anyone else says about him.
Salt + Light is a coastal, domestic drama about community and relationships, celebrating the efforts of volunteer surf life savers across Australia.
Human of the Year
Heartbreak thrusts together Paul Peach and Durland Greder in Human of the Year, a novel about seeking human connection and the importance of unconditional kindness – even when you’re stuck with an annoying stranger.
When Paul’s long-term girlfriend Liz pulls the plug on their relationship, he has nowhere to go. In desperation, he camps out in the lobby of his previous apartment building and refuses to leave until the new tenant agrees to let him rent his old room. At first, Durland refuses (like any sane person would) until he realises that they might have something (or someone) in common…
Along the way, meet the prickly neighbour and his pet sausage dog Sir Frankfurter Bunnings, a muffin-enthusiast, a devious resident building manager and one, frighteningly blue, marketing manager.
